Deer Crest Senior Living created a support group for our current residents and/or loved ones in our community that are care partners to loved ones with dementia. We open the meeting to those that attend to come together to be supportive and share stories, whether good and bad, happy, heart wrenching, tearful, angry, or grief struck. We want the group to know that even though you are here for the same primary reason, you all have your own stories and your own journey. Creating an environment that sharing your story will help you to know you’re not alone and fostering friendships to be able to grow your bond as care partners.
We want to be a source of knowledge; whether it be anecdotal from stories shared, or scientific from a presentation or news article. We want the group to have tools and support to be able better react to situations that arise when being a care partner with our loved ones.
At this time, the meetings are limited to internal residents and their families as stated above. However, we hope when current COVID restrictions lessen, we can start opening it up to the public. If you have questions about the support group please reach out to Brenda, our Activities Director. Brenda is trained in care support through our Ebenezer Dimensions Program.
